Is Father Christmas the most travelled “person” in the world?

After enjoying our gourmet Christmas dinner on Monday evening, we started to reminisce about when we first realized as children that Father Christmas was not really “real”.  This led to discussions about why we started questioning his “realness”.   One of the reasons seemed to be that we began to wonder how he managed to get round the whole world in just one night.  This turned into a lively conversation about rocket jets, magic powder and reindeer on steroids…..

While this was going on, my mind naturally meandered off into “travel” mode as it often does….and I got to thinking how wonderful it would be to be able to travel round the whole world to every single little town, city and village and to actually get a glimpse into real local homes – not something that often happens when one is travelling.   Of course, zooming over cities at night would also give you the best views with all the lights sparkling…..

No airports to contend with, after all,  Father Christmas has his own private charter and he does not have to pay exorbitant fuel fees or eat the lousy airways food.  Actually, he gets to taste a million different cookies / snacks from every Nationality and imagine savouring all the different beers or wines that are put out for his consumption – for those who put out milk, I wonder, does he drink the milk or does he give it to his reindeer??? Personally, I would like champagne and a mince pie, but that is of course, another story……

Santa of course only travels once a year which is rather a shame and definitely would not work for me…..but, perhaps, just as a once off, it sure would be wonderful to tag onto his sleigh…..that is of course, if Santa is “real”.

I, for one, have never questioned how he gets around the world so quickly, it was, is and will always be MAGIC!

Do you think Santa is the most travelled “person’ in the world?

About Cynthia

I am a fun loving woman who loves to explore new destinations and experiences. My philosophy in life is “Have suitcase, will travel” and I like to drag my family and friends along with me to share in the joy. Naturally, along the journey of “life” I like to indulge in long, lazy lunches, delicious champagne, creamy chocolate and most important, lots of laughter……Having being in travel for many years, I write about my personal experiences, mostly about Southern Africa but I do also get to travel internationally so will pop in some stories about my travels abroad. As food and wine are an integral part of my travel experience I also explore both those topics as well.

Yes, he is the most travelled person in the world for sure!
I love him, so please just keep him & his reindeer fed in preparation for next year.
    Happy Festive Season.

  2. Personally I’d love to make that trip with him one of these years!

I never wondered either when I was a kid, it’s just all part of the magic of Christmas. I would love to tag onto his sleigh ! Of course he’s real, you can visit him all year round in Rovaniemi Finland except the night before Christmas as he will be on his tour around the world then ;-)

For sure:) Given all the beers he gets his hands on, sounds more like a pub crawl!!!

I’m with you on this one. I will always believe in the magic of Father Christmas and how I also wish I could travel the world like him, only at a slower pace.

:) someone tweeted me that I was wrong, the most travelled “person” is the toothfairy! Could be right I suppose as she/he has to visit every child quite a number of times but then once they grow up, she/he does not visit again whereas Father Christmas has to visit every house immaterial of whether there are children or not :) :)
